With so many people falling into the debt trap lately, the concept of non profit debt management has begun to gain increasing importance in today's age. There are just so many people filing for bankruptcy that it is shocking. I guess this had to happen sooner or later, considering the fact that people are applying for credit cards in an unprecedented manner and end up misusing them. However, filing for bankruptcy has the result of financially destroying your credit for the next 7 to 10 years. Obviously, it is not a first course of action to take. That is why the government has now made it mandatory for people filing for bankruptcy to first go through professional credit counseling before they are considered eligible for that bankruptcy. Non-profit debt management services are designed primarily towards this end. They help you get back on track without totally destroying your credit. For example, they may guide you to call all of the credit companies you owe money to and ask them to lower your interest rates. Since they also give you access to debt counseling, you are in a better position to manage your future finances without the negative effects bankruptcy has.
